the "future attorney" internship at akins high school
Through a vigorous application and interview process, the above ten students were selected to be a part of the first Law Internship at Akins High School. These students are student-athletes, student leaders, JROTC students, and overall top-notch individuals. This internship will focus primarily on criminal law, including prosecuting and defending crimes. The interns will visit the Travis County Courthouse and the University of Texas Law School, interacting with prosecutors, defense attorneys, judges, professors, and law students. This will be an incredible experience which will prepare these young adults for college, and eventually law school.
During this internship, students will have the privilege of training for Mock Trial in our new state of the art courtroom located right within Akins High School. During the course of the year, we hope to implement Akins Court, a program which will utilize restorative justice principles in handling various issues at the campus.
